Industrial Projects

IOBCWA is actively tracking a number of industrial projects with the potential to significantly impact our community's quality of life. These projects include Desalination Plants, Oil Export Terminals and Tank Farms, and Ship Channel Deepening projects.

Overview

Click HERE for an overview of the various industries surrounding Ingleside on the Bay, and IOBCWA's philosophy of engagement. While we aspire to trust that our neighboring companies, we also have found it prudent to be skeptical and verify. Since our founding in 2019, we have become very knowledgeable and active in challenging the explosive growth occurring in San Patricio County along La Quinta Channel. We are currently engaged in a federal lawsuit with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Enbridge, have filed TCEQ contested case hearings to stop two desalination plants on La Quinta Channel, and routinely challenge air pollution permits by neighboring export terminals by working with area scientists. IOBCWA tries to understand each permit and the science behind it, so that we can make knowledgeable written and verbal comments at public meetings that we often request.

Channel Deepening

Ingleside on the Bay is located on the busy La Quinta Ship Channel, which adjoins the Corpus Christi Ship Channel/Gulf Intracoastal Waterway and is operated by the Port of Corpus Christi. La Quinta Channel is subject to ongoing maintenance dredging, with additional permit requests for further deepening, widening, and/or lengthening. Visit the La Quinta Channel Deepening page for more information.

Oil Export Terminals

Ingleside on the Bay is located on former Karankawan lands on the historical Live Oak Peninsula, where three oil export terminals have also decided to locate. Visit the respective pages for Flint Hills, Enbridge, and Buckeye (under development) for more information.

Desalination Plants

There are several desalination plants currently under permit review through the TCEQ. IOBCWA has taken the lead on challenging those planned for La Quinta Channel - by the City of Corpus Christi, the Port of Corpus Christi, and the City of Ingleside. Visit the Desal Plants page for more information.

Other Industrial Projects

Located further up La Quinta Channel from Ingleside on the Bay, along the San Patricio County coastline, are a number of petrochemical companies, liquefied natural gas plants, steel manufacturing, and fabrication plants. Visit the Google Map of San Patricio County Industries & Desal Plants to see where the industries are located.
